About the Event
Mimmo Cavallaro is known at present the most influential of the traditional Calabrese music. Born and lived in the cultural area as a spokesperson he has always conducted his own particular research through field investigation on stylistic non tats which characterise the different places of Calabria. And he sings in dialect with the use of translation tools such as the Calabrian Lyre mixed together with the original texts and harmonies that make it one of the main authors of Italian popular music.
His official artistic project started officially in 2009. He published his first disk called “Sona Battenti” produced by Taranta power under the guidance of Eugenio Bennato. His music and his musical tradition until rarely linked to the local area is clearly through live performances in various important festivals in Italy and abroad accompanied by a highly respected band from Valentina Donato: drums and choirs and dance organ.
